WVSOM President James W. Nemitz, Ph.D., welcomes Rahul Gupta, M.D., director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, to the school’s campus in June. Gupta met with WVSOM students, local physicians and other individuals who impact local health care. The event focused on discussions related to substance use disorder (SUD) and recovery, and the many community partnerships and programs WVSOM has created to try to fight the opioid epidemic.

Bob Foster, D.O., and President James W. Nemitz, Ph.D., share a conversation during the Golden Jubilee parade. Dr. Foster dressed as A.T. Still, D.O., M.D., the founder of osteopathic medicine. A longtime faculty member and administrator, Foster retired in the summer of 2023 after 45 years of service to the medical school.
